作家紹介
トルコから2012年に日本へ移住してきたErcanの作品には、幾重にも重なった筆跡の奥に、通常目にして認識する美しい現実の風景や頭に想い描いている人生の理想が描かれています。そこから何度も何度も筆で塗り重ねられ作品が完成されています。彼は、これを苦境の象徴化のプロセスと言います。また、彼は悩みや課題を、作品の中の架空空間に映し出すことで自身の感覚を他人と共有していると言います。
これらの個々人の抱える数々の悩みや課題と、空想上の架空空間という2つの要素は、彼の制作の基盤となっています。作品の中の架空空間では、誰しもが折に触れて感じる孤独や不安、恐怖と、人生の理想とが隣り合わせではあるものの、決して交差することの無い世界が広がっているように見えます。不安や恐怖を直視する勇気がなく自分が何者かを知る事に葛藤したり、この苦悩から解放される為に現実を敢えてぼかしてしまうという、生きていれば多くの者が感じるであろう人々の苦境が表現されています。
Quote from his statement:
I base my work on the problems of individuals and on imaginary spaces. Because of this I think that I meet with people at a shared point. The spaces I create display the disconnect between the fear of loneliness that everyone occasionally experiences and the life that everyone imagines for themselves.  
I create distinctive works that are able to symbolize this predicament by thinking of those who -- lacking the courage to face their fears -- struggle to have an identity and obfuscate reality in order to relieve themselves from the pressure of not having an identity.
